Creating Marketing Submission Questionnaires
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Submission questions let you collect extra context from submitters when they create a marketing review project, such as details about the collateral that your standard fields don't capture. This article explains how to build a custom submission questionnaire in Marketing Review settings, choose how submitters answer it, and see the questions appear on a new submission. You'd do this when setting up your intake workflow, or any time your intake requirements change.
Open the submission questions settings
- Go to Settings and open Marketing Review settings, where your intake workflows are configured.
- Switch to the Submission questions tab.
Choose how submitters answer
At the top of the tab, the How submitters answer card controls the scope of the responses. It applies to document details and to your submission questions. Routing questions are always answered once per project. You have three options:
- Once per project: one set of answers is applied to every document in the project.
- Once per document: every document is answered separately, so each can have different responses.
- Let the submitter choose: submitters decide per project, and default to answering once for the whole project.
This setting saves as soon as you select an option, and a confirmation message appears. You don't need to click "Save questionnaire" for it to take effect.
Build the questionnaire
- If you haven't created any questions yet, click Create questionnaire. If a questionnaire already exists, click Edit.
- Click Add question to add your first intake question.
- Enter the question text that submitters will see.
- Set the response format. For example, choose single select to have submitters pick one answer from a list.
- Enter the first selectable choice, then add each additional option you want to offer.
- Repeat for any other questions. You can reorder questions using the move up and move down controls, or delete ones you no longer need.
- Click Save questionnaire.
If anything is incomplete, a "Fix the following before saving" message lists what needs attention for each question. Saving locks in the intake requirements, and the questions appear for every new marketing submission.
Note: If you reorder a question so that it sits ahead of a question it depends on, any display conditions affected will be removed, and you'll be asked to confirm first.
See it in action on a new submission
To confirm the questionnaire works as intended, open Projects and create a new marketing submission. Fill in the required fields and attach the marketing collateral for review. Your new question appears under Custom questions, and you answer it there along with the rest of the submission details.
Once all fields are filled in, submit the project for review.
Updating the questionnaire later
You can change the questionnaire at any time by returning to the Submission questions tab and clicking Edit. If you leave while editing, you'll be asked whether to discard unsaved changes. If another administrator has saved a change in the meantime, you'll be prompted to reload the latest version before continuing, and your unsaved edits will be discarded.
