How do I connect Zoom Team Chat for archiving?
Last updated: September 22, 2026
This guide covers Zoom Team Chat. Zoom Phone is a separate connector with its own setup, linked at the bottom of this article.
Zoom Team Chat archiving is available on Zoom Basic, Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts. The setup is done once for your whole Zoom account by a Zoom admin, and it has two parts: authorizing the connection, then updating two areas of your Zoom admin settings.
Authorizing the connection
Step 1: Authorize the archiving connection
Open the authorization link Hadrius provides, then sign in with your Zoom admin account and approve the connection.
Configuring your Zoom admin settings
Step 2: Turn off code snippets and advanced chat encryption
Sign in to the Zoom admin portal and go to Account Management > Account Settings, then open the Zoom Chat tab.
Turn off both of these settings:
Setting | Value |
|---|---|
Code Snippet | Off |
Enable advanced chat encryption | Off |
Important: Advanced chat encryption must stay off. Messages sent while it is on cannot be archived.
Step 3: Grant view access to chat messages and channels
Go to User Management > Roles, select the Admin role, select Edit, then open the Role Settings tab.
Scroll to Chat Management and turn on View for both permissions:
Permission | Setting |
|---|---|
Chat messages | View |
Chat channels | View |
