How do I connect Microsoft Copilot for archiving?

Last updated: October 20, 2026

At a glance

  • Typical setup time: About 5 minutes

  • Who you need: A Hadrius admin and a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator (one person can be both)

  • What Hadrius reads: Microsoft 365 Copilot prompts, responses and the files they reference, read-only

Before you begin

Archiving reads Copilot activity through Microsoft's Copilot interaction export, which covers users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Hadrius finds your Microsoft tenant from your firm's email domain, so the tenant you connect must be the one that domain belongs to. If you don't see Microsoft Copilot on your Integrations page, contact your account manager to turn it on for your firm.

In Hadrius

Start the connection

Open the Microsoft Copilot integration page in Hadrius and click Set up Copilot, then Connect to Copilot. Hadrius sends you to Microsoft to grant consent.

In Microsoft

Grant admin consent

Sign in as a Global Administrator. Microsoft lists the permissions the Hadrius Archiver app is asking for. Review them and click Accept.

Consent has to be granted by a Global Administrator. If you are not one, have your Global Administrator sign in on this Microsoft screen, or ask them to start the connection from Hadrius themselves.

Return to Hadrius

After you accept, Microsoft sends you back to Hadrius, which confirms the tenant and shows Successfully connected to Copilot. On the Microsoft Copilot integration page, click Test connection at any time to check that Hadrius can still read your tenant.

FAQ

What can Hadrius do with this consent?

The Hadrius Archiver app gets read-only access to your tenant's Copilot interaction history and to your user directory, which Hadrius uses to match each conversation to the person who had it. It cannot send messages, use Copilot, or change any settings in your tenant.

Does each user need to do anything?

No. Consent is granted once for the whole tenant, and Copilot conversations are archived without any action from your users.

Troubleshooting

"Hadrius could not read Copilot data from that tenant"

Consent was not completed, or not every permission was granted. Click Set up Copilot again and accept all of the permissions Microsoft lists.

"Copilot is connected to a different Microsoft tenant"

Your firm is already connected to another tenant. Contact Hadrius support to move the connection to the new one.

Test connection fails after setup was working

Consent was probably revoked in Microsoft Entra, or the Hadrius Archiver app was removed from your tenant. Grant consent again with the Set up Copilot button.
