How do I connect Google Chat Enterprise for archiving?
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Prerequisites
Before starting, make sure:
Your organization uses Google Workspace Enterprise Standard or Enterprise Plus.
You have Google Chat administrator access.
You have the unique Google Chat archiving address provided by Hadrius.
Chat history is enabled. Google does not archive messages sent with history off.
Turn on Chat history
In the Google Admin Console, navigate to:
Apps → Google Workspace → Google Chat → Chat history
Turn Chat history On.
Disable the option allowing users to change their history setting. This prevents gaps in your compliance archive.
Click Save.
Enable third-party archiving
Navigate to:
Apps → Google Workspace → Google Chat → Third-party Archiving Settings
Select the organization or organizational unit you want to archive.
Check Archiving enabled.
Enter the unique archiving address provided by Hadrius.
Set Archival frequency to 1 hour.
Click Save.
Google Chat Enterprise activity will now be sent automatically to Hadrius for archiving. No Google Vault, OAuth, software installation, or SFTP setup is required.
Important
Google does not archive:
Messages sent with Chat history off.
Messages from spaces owned by another organization.
