How do I archive my iMessage?

Last updated: February 5, 2026

Blocklisting or Allowlisting Contacts

Please reach out to your Hadrius contact to let them know which one you prefer

Blocklisting Personal Contacts

Blocklisting is recommended for those primarily using a work phone, but occasionally send personal messages on this device. You are able to mark specific contacts as private, meaning any iMessage conversations with these contacts would be ignored by our archiving solution, and will not be stored on our platform.

To mark a contact as such, simply:

  1. Add the keyword [personal] (including square brackets) to the contact’s notes section.

  2. Ensure that the contact is stored in (or backed up to) iCloud.

Allowlisting Work Contacts

Allowlisting is recommended for those primarily using a personal phone, but occasionally send work messages on this device. You are able to mark specific contacts as work related, meaning ONLY iMessage conversations with these contacts would be archived and stored on our platform.

To mark a contact as such, simply:

  1. Add the keyword [archive] (including square brackets) to the contact’s notes section.

  2. Ensure that the contact is stored in (or backed up to) iCloud.

Please note: only after the tag is saved to a contact does the archiving start working for that contact. It does not matter if there are other notes in the Notes field. As long as the word [archive] or [personal] is spelled correctly and has the brackets, it is enabled.

Authorizing Connection

We partner with FirmScribe, one of the leading technology providers in the iMessage capture space. You will receive an email from them with detailed instructions on setup.

We recommend opening the instructions on your computer and following along on your phone, which can require a restart.
