How Do I Archive Reddit?

There are two types of Reddit archiving: Social connection and IM connection.

Social connection covers the following:

  • All publicly visible posts and comments authored by that user, across all of Reddit

  • Profile information (e.g., avatar, description)

This can be configured by a firm admin using the employee’s public profile URL in the format:
https://www.reddit.com/u/{username}

Please provide the URLs and employee names to your account manager to begin archiving.

IM connection covers the following:

  • The employee’s direct messages (sent and received)

  • All content in SubReddits in which the employee is the full moderator

This requires authorization directly from the employee (OAuth login). Employees can authorize their accounts using this link: app.hadrius.com/archive/im/oauth/reddit

Example Case (SubReddit archiving):
In order to capture every post and comment (by any user) within a subreddit, an employee must:

  1. Be a full moderator of that subreddit (either the creator or granted full permissions), and

  2. Complete the IM connection authorization

Without this, coverage is limited to content authored by specific users and does not extend to the full subreddit.
